Hook’s Cheese Company, Inc. is a family-run business making cheese in a facility that was built into the hills of Mineral Point, WI during the mining era. Known for award-winning cheeses, the company prides itself on producing high-quality products that are a result of years of expertise, rigorous testing and monitoring throughout the cheese making and aging processes, and milk from local cows, sheep, and goats.
Tony brings over 50 years of cheese making experience to the company. Both Tony and Julie hold their Wisconsin cheesemakers’ licenses and Julie is still the only woman to win the overall world champion championship award for Colby at the World Cheese Championship. Tony continues to work at the factory every day it is open and when he is not dreaming up a new type of cheese to make, he can be found disc golfing or spending time with his family. Julie also loves spending time with her family, especially her three grandchildren, and you'll find both of them on Saturdays at the Dane County Farmers’ Market.
In addition to Tony and Julie, most of the team at the factory making the cheese are relatives of theirs, from Tony's sister (Julie Marie) to their nephews (Brian, Jim, and Talvick), and Jim's spouse (Cricket) .
